Matchroom Sports versus Queensberry Promotions: Eddie Hearn brings update on 5-versus-5 fight card

Matchroom Sports’ Eddie Hearn prepares to see five fighters he promotes fight the same number of Queensberry Promotions’ Frank Warren’s. The event which was suggested by Saudi officials is about to be advertised, and Hearn had an update for fans.

According to Hearn, none of the selected fighters knows whom he (or she) is to fight at the event.

Furthermore, all their names will be released only in due season, but the bouts are expected to take place at the UK sometime in June.

The two men are working together with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, a Saudi official.

Speaking on Matchroom Sports’ YouTube channel, Hearn said the following in way of update:

‘The filming has been done and it is down to His Excellency when that will be released.

‘We have confirmed the weight classes which will be revealed soon, then there will be a press conference in April when the fighters will be revealed.

‘The fighters, Matchroom, Queensbury, won’t know who they are facing, won’t know the line-up, until the press conference on the day.

‘There will be some very interesting reveals that will blow your mind. It’s going to be a lot of fun, we can’t wait.’

There is also possibility of seeing what Hearn called a second version of the yet-unnamed event.

‘His Excellency has talked about potentially doing a second version of this event in London in September.

‘The format is going to be really compelling and exciting for the fans. I’m desperate to win, Frank is desperate to win, and there are going to be some massive fights.’

This new kinds of events puts both promoters in the shoes of Chess masters who must make a move though oblivious of what their opponent is thinking.

The losers and winners will be more diversified this time around.
