Actress Lizzy Anjorin debunks reports suggesting she stole gold of N90,000
Anjorin has decided to revisit the accusations and provide insight into what really transpired.
In a recent interview with media personality Timi Agbaje, the actress passionately shared her perspective on the situation. She mentioned that she’s too disciplined to be a thief, describing it as a “ridiculous” act.
She said, “Let’s first establish the fact that we’re talking about ₦91,000 gold when a gram of gold was 150,000. A gram of gold is less than a grain of rice so how can you go into the market to steal something less than a grain of rice, a single rice?”
“I’m a certified jewellery seller, I sell gold and diamonds. I am also a certified fabric merchant so how can I stoop so low to go to Eko Idumota to steal a gram of gold? Something that is less than a grain of rice? That is ridiculous. I am not a thief, I will never be a thief. I am too straightforward and too disciplined to become a thief,” she added.
Recall that on February 5, 2024, a widely circulated video captured an incident involving Anjorin in a local shop. The footage depicted an accusation of shoplifting against her.
Anjorin was observed attempting to evade being recorded by her accusers and subsequently moved to a less visible area within the shop.
A crowd gathered, and amidst the commotion, a woman’s voice could be heard saying Anjorin was innocent, insisting that the actress did not engage in any form of theft.
Subsequently, the actress took to her social media handle to explain that she had been falsely incriminated by a person she referred to as “Shekpeteri.”
