Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, visited Peter Okoye just a few days after visiting Paul Okoye and Jude Okoye, the P-Square’s elder brother, in his quest to facilitate the resolution of the feud that has gripped the Okoyes.

The details of their discussion were not made public; however, pictures that emerged from the visit showed Mr Peter Obi and Peter Okoye having a discussion in the singer’s mansion.

The former governor of Anambra, Peter Obi, made the visit following the online feud between the P Square brothers. Paul had accused his twin brother Peter of filing a petition against him to the EFCC. On the contrary, Peter clarified that he had actually filed a petition against their brother Jude for allegedly diverting funds from their company.

Recall that in a recent interview with City FM, Paul Okoye, who makes up one-half of the famous music duo P-Square, opened up about the issues that have led to the strained relationship between him and his twin brother Peter.

Despite the widespread belief that the long-standing conflict between the two brothers had been resolved and that they were now on good terms, Paul suggested that a new source of conflict had arisen among them that had caused them to part ways again.

During the interview, Paul stated that he had to let Peter go because it became like he (Paul) was single-handedly doing the music. He said, “At some point, it felt like I was doing all the music, so I had to move so he (Peter) could do the music as well. I was accused of claiming that I was the singer while he was the dancer.

Paul mentioned that their tension stemmed from their 2014 collaboration with American rapper TI on the song ‘Ejeajo’. He noted that the sound was distinct from the usual P-Square style that fans had grown accustomed to, claiming that it was because Peter wrote the song.

He said that to prevent further strain on their relationship or compromise the unique ‘P-Square touch,’ he proposed that each of them contribute five songs to the album, which proved abortive.

Recalling an incident from earlier this year, Paul recounted that something unexpected happened when he received an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission regarding a petition written against him and his elder brother by his twin brother Peter.

He said they were eventually released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission when it became known that they were not guilty of the accusations made against them. He also mentioned that his brother, Peter, did not find it fitting to apologise after the incident.

Contrary to Paul’s claim, Peter, also known as Mr P, wrote an open letter to him, countering most of his claims.

Peter said he did not report Paul to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Instead, he was focused on finding out the truth about a company called Northside Music, which is allegedly owned by their brother, Jude Okoye and his wife, Ifeoma.

He said it’s always surprising to him when people say, ‘P-Square is always bringing their family matters into the public eye. ‘Let me clarify this. P-Square is not just a family—it’s a public brand. Peter, Paul, Jude, Anita, Ifeoma, Lola, and the rest of our family members are family, but P-Square is an entity that belongs to the public as much as it does to us’. The public, therefore, ought to be aware of what goes on in the brand, he concluded.

He went on to enlighten the public on what had led to the lingering feud in their family.

‘I want to make it clear that I never reported my twin brother Paul to the EFCC. I know many of you were disappointed when Paul accused me of doing so.

“He mentioned that I wrote a petition against him, which he claimed made the EFCC ask him to provide a surety. This statement suggested that he was detained, which is not true.

“Peter, Paul and Jude own a management company together called Northside Entertainment, which we use to manage all of P-Square’s affairs. One day, I discovered another company with a similar name, but this one was called Northside Music instead of Northside Entertainment.

“This surprised me, so I decided to investigate further and guess what? To my shock, the founders and directors of this secret company were none other than Jude Okoye and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye, and the registered address was the family home of Jude’s wife.”

Peter said he had several extensive discussions with Paul about the company and the concerning issue of missing royalties. Throughout these conversations, Paul consistently maintained that he had no knowledge of the situation. Peter added that his legal team had filed a petition against Jude and his wife, who were the directors of the secret company, and not against Paul (his twin brother).

Peter Obi has considered the whole story and decided to step in as an elder stateman to see how the brothers can restore peace.
