Protest: This is not time to pray, it is time to act – Spyro tells Nigerians
Nigerian music star Spyro has urged Nigerians to eschew hiding under the shadow of prayer and start showing tangible actions that will bring the desired positive change in the country.
Amidst the nationwide hunger protest currently underway, the music star Spyro has called on Nigerians and clergymen to take action by speaking out and using their various platforms to call the government to order and ameliorate the citizens’ sufferings.
The singer referenced the scripture saying faith without work is dead to encourage Nigerians not to think the country will improve without action. He urges men of God in Nigeria to emulate the biblical Moses, who led the Israelites out of Egypt, emphasizing the role he played in saving the people from captivity.
His post read, “I wish men of God could speak up for the people now as it was in the days of old… This is not a time to PRAY, it is a time to ACT, even the Bible says FAITH without WORKS is dead. In the Bible days, men of God were strong tools that God used to challenge the government and liberate the people. MOSES, your people need you now.”
The singer also opined that his fellow entertainers should consider the state of the country and stop releasing content that aims to entertain while the audience is bleeding.
He said, “I personally think it is quite insensitive to post anything entertainment rn. The Country is bleeding and we are all affected whether or not we agree to that fact. I am very much affected.”
