Ogun State Police arrests 25-year-old for stealing 47 bags of Rice as Unknown gunmen kill one in Benue Links bus attack

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Damilola Bada for allegedly stealing 47 bags of rice from his boss in the Ijebu area of the state.

This was made known in a statement released Saturday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who said the stolen items belongs to a company, Chicken & Co. and worths N2,500,000.

The suspect was reportedly arrested after the company’s owner, Oluremi Olabode, reported the case of theft of her goods at the Igbeba division of the Ogun State police force.

Meanwhile, the Police PRO’s statement read, “On the 13th of October 2023 one Oluremi Olabode, “F” the owner of Chicken & Co Company, reported a case of stealing, involving one of her storekeepers named Damilola Bada 25yrs “m”.

“She alleged Damilola for conspiring with other employees to steal forty-seven bags of rice, amounting to two million, five hundred thousand Naira.

“After an audit of the store, the theft was discovered by the complainant, Oluremi Olabode. As a result, Damilola Bada was arrested by the Divisional Police Officer Igbeba, Division and subsequently interrogated. During the interrogation, Damilola could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the missing bags of rice that were under his custody.”

She however urged members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their community to the nearest Police Station.

“The Ogun State Police Command is advising members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station to assist in preventing future incidents and maintaining a safe and secure community”, Odutola concluded.

Unknown gunmen attack Benue Links bus, kill one

Some unknown Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have reportedly attacked a Benue Links bus on the highway killing one person and leaving scores injured.

The sad incident was said to have occurred along Naka Road, Gwer West Local Government Area, LGA, at Tyolaha village while the fully packed Benue Links bus was conveying passengers to Otukpo.

According to media reports, this is not the first-time gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have attacked travellers along the dilapidated Tyolaha village road which has seemingly become a hotspot for such criminal operations to be carried out by the perpetrators.

This has caused most residents and farmers to flee from that part of the road while the remnants call on the government and security operatives for protection.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that he herdsmen who were almost 15 in number thwarted any resistance by their victims which caused them to disperse on an escape with ease.

Confirming the incident, Benue Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene said “a bus belonging to Benue Links which was heading to Otukpo was attacked by unknown gunmen and three persons including women were wounded and one person died yesterday.”

In a similar incident, the Area Police Command in Otukpo Benue State, have rescued a suspected kidnapper who was recently arrested by youths and local vigilantes in the Oglewu District of Ohimini LGA of Benue State after he reportedly owned up to being a kidnapper.

According to reports, the suspect who committed to take the youths to his hide out around Okwungaga hill was however, rescued and taken away by the Police while an angry was still interrogating him.

Reacting, the youths in the area have blocked the Otukpo-Enugu Highway in Otukpo and lit bun fires around the area, obstructing vehicular traffic on the busy highway and demanding that the police release the suspect to them as they would rather a jungle justice prevails.
