Barry McGuigan gives scalding opinion of Jarrell Miller
Barry McGuigan gave what is clearly a disapproving view of American boxer Jarrell Miller, ahead of Miller’s bout with Britain’s Daniel Dubois on December 23.
McGuigan who posts at Mirror wrote his opinion of Miller’s inclusion among professional boxers in such a way that there was no confusion what he thought.
‘Jarrell Miller is nobody’s idea of a force for good in boxing,’ wrote McGuigan. ‘A repeat drugs offender and an unpleasant character. I would not have him anywhere near the sport.
‘But some in boxing obviously feel differently. And Miller, undefeated in 27 bouts, has to be considered a genuine threat to Dubois.’
Barry McGuigan is an Irish boxing promoter and former professional boxer. He was born in Clones, Ireland in 1961. McGuigan was nicknamed “The Clones Cyclone” and held the WBA and lineal featherweight titles from 1985 to 1986.
He is also known for his successful career as an amateur boxer, winning multiple titles. McGuigan is married to Sandra McGuigan and has two children named Shane McGuigan and Danika McGuigan. He is 5’6″ tall and weighed 130 lbs during his boxing career.
Miller uses excessive trash talking and also has a very offensive attitude. Dubois is believed to be suffering from the adverse psychological effects of losing his past two matches.
The fact that Miller is an intimidating individual is expected to be another mental weight the Brit will have to bear in the ring.
‘Stamina and conditioning are vital for Dubois,’ wrote McGuigan. ‘He also has to believe in himself. There must be lingering doubts after the defeats to Joyce and Usyk. In the final seconds of both bouts he seemed to doubt himself.’
‘He has such qualities, but he has to get out of his own way and learn to pass the stress tests, those moments when you are hurting but need to go again.’
On that day, the past lineal heavyweight kings, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, will be facing Otto Wallin and Joseph Parker, respectively.
