Carl Froch advices Daniel Dubois following victory over Jarrell Miller
Former boxer Carl Froch who is now both a boxing commentator and analyst adviced Daniel Dubois on what to do next following a 10th round knockout of USA’s Jarrell Miller.
Dubois who was coming from a loss to unified heavyweight champion Oleksander Usyk walked into the ring on December 23 and beat a bigger Jarrell Miller, after being expected to be scared of the controversial pugilist.
Carl Froch suggested it was time for Dubois to correct something that happened sometime in his career — Dubois’ loss to Joe Joyce.
Joyce who was still undefeated handed him a broken eye socket, sidelining the Brit for some time. This was before a stunning double loss to Chinese southpaw Zheilei Zhang.
‘Dubois showed that he was a really good fighter against Jarrell Miller,’ Froch said to LuckyBlock. ‘He showed a lot of maturity in his combination punches, in keeping his opponent at a distance.
‘He let himself get backed up, but controlled the pace and didn’t exhaust himself, which I think was what Miller was waiting for to happen.’
Froch later suggested a fight with Joyce to Dubois.
‘I think potentially a Joe Joyce fight could be a good option for Dubois, just to correct that one. I don’t know about Joe Joyce but I’m sure he still wants to fight at a top level even after his losses to Zhang.’
Such a match will be helpful in the careers of both men, considering its potential of bringing them nearer to a heavyweight title.
