Amir Khan, an Olympic medalist and former world champion, recently laid bare his view of Tyson Fury’s shocking performance against Francis Ngannou. He also said who he expects to win between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Khan did this while speaking to ES News after his fellow Brit, WBC champion Tyson Fury, got knocked down in the third round of a ten-round professional bout with boxing debutant Francis Ngannou. Fury was expected to show Ngannou why it was the wrong choice to choose an undefeated champion as his opponent in his first ever professional boxing match. If there were people who expected Ngannou to be won by a close split decision, they were possibly less than one percent of the entire crowd.

‘I was very shocked,’ admitted Amir Khan. ‘I thought that Ngannou was just getting knocked out; Fury was gonna just walk right through him. Everyone thought that, if you look at the record, 34-0 against a guy who’s never boxed before.

‘I understand that he might be good at UFC, but when it comes down to boxing, it’s only hands. What he did in the fight, man, he surprised us all. A lot of people thought he won that fight. I don’t know if Tyson didn’t take it seriously.

‘I want to see the second one, cause I don’t know what’s gonna happen. This time, Tyson will probably train harder and knock him out – let’s see.’

Tyson Fury’s next opponent is WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Their ever-desired bout is expected to crown an undisputed world heavyweight champion. The first since the time of Lennox Lewis

Many changed their initial predictions concerning who would win between Fury and Usyk after watching the match between the former and Cameroon’s Francis Ngannou. A rumour has started spreading that Fury has lost his edge and should consider retirement, and Tyson Fury’s brother Shane Fury has added fuel to the fire lately by saying that the champion might actually have grown weak. However, Khan made it clear that he was still standing by his first prediction.

‘I got Tyson [but] Usyk is a dangerous fighter as well,’ Khan affirmed.
