Racism: Real Madrid accuse referee of excluding racial abuse of Vinicius Junior from report
Real Madrid complained against referee Juan Martinez Munuera, after allegedly finding that Osasuna fans’ racial abuse against Vinicius Junior was missing from the match report.
Below is the club’s feeling expressed in their own words:
‘The referee voluntarily and deliberately omitted the insults and vexatious shouts directed repeatedly towards our player Vinicius Jr, despite these being insistently pointed out by our players at the very moment when they were taking place.
‘Real Madrid once again condemns these violent attacks of racism, discrimination and hatred, and demands that the necessary measures be taken, once and for all, to eradicate the violence that our player Vinicius Junior has been suffering.’
Vinicius Junior has been passing through racial abuse on the pitch for long in Spain, with fans of Barcelona, Athletico Madrid, and Inter Milan playing parts.
One of the bad results of such behaviours is that they could destabilize a player, reduce his or her performance level, or affect the views of a wider range of the community adversely.
It is a wonder he still performs as good as he does.
