The prodigy won her first ever gold medal in a world-stunning feat at the budding age of 16, pushing veteran competitors and champions several steps behind the top spot.

Her fame went far and wide since then. But something bad happened two years ago.

During the Olympics competitions at the Eastern country of Japan, Simone Biles decided she was not fit to compete anymore in the contests because of a bad mental health.

This was not well received by many in the United States community who saw her as their hope to win a gold medal in the female gymnastics. The Olympics has always been more than an individual thing to spectators. To excel in any direction brings glory to both one’s country and family.

What gymnasts call what was disclosed to be the mental problem was ‘twisties’.

It is a situation where a gymnastic athlete forgets what to do next while performing. Everyone knew it was dangerous to enter the competition floor to swing from the different bars, demonstrate at the beams and perform on the floor in the sight of the global audience while having such a problem. Death of serious injury could occur.

But Biles later said what caused the ‘twisties’. It was not something  champions in other sports would not understand, nor other gymnasts.

Some from her team had called her their ‘gold medal token’ because she had won at least two gold medals in the global scene by then. This expectation turned into a weight. When everyone in a team looks up to you for such accomplishments, it could become a distraction and put you under tension.

The Olympic champion has now won thirty-five medals in different competitions, and three of them were from when she was sixteen.

She is the oldest human in Gymnastics to win a gold medal, and has won more medals by the most recent one she collected from the U.S. Gymnastic Competitions.

With these two records, she might have fulfilled what the amazed spectators had expected of her later in life when she knocked out the best to win her first gold medal at the age of sixteen. The records she broke are all older than her.

Newly-married Simone Biles disclosed how she has decided to deal with both her sport and the media after her win at San Jose. She declined to say whether she would be expected to compete in the coming Olympics at Antwerp, Belgium.

Speaking to who asked her, she said it was one of the decisions she made after her mental ordeal to keep things secret from the press. After all, after winning this championship, it is likely that her saying she would compete at the Olympics would put on her all the loads that disabled her at the last one.

Biles might leave the sport as Serena Williams did, since she is married and could have thoughts of having children. Though she has decided to do this sport only for herself from now on, she might leave it  soon for the same.
