According to several sources, he pleaded guilty in the first stage of his trial but was unable to clear his charges.

After pleading guilty to all the charges deployed on him by the EFCC, he was convicted on 5th April 2024 by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

Bob Risky was charged and found guilty of six counts of vital money abuse charges. This featured four counts of money mutilation and two counts of money laundering to which he pleaded all guilty on the 5th of April 2024.

He was, however, denied bail and was convicted despite that he pleaded with the authorities to pardon him and declared that he wasn’t aware of the laws binding the Naira Abuse and further vowed to educate his fans about it.

“I am a social media influencer with over five million followers. I would do a video on my page and I would educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat it again, My Lord. I regret my actions, My Lord. I am a first-time offender” – he pleaded.

Bob Risky in Court:

This yielded no sympathy as the court adjourned his sentence to 9th April 2024. Abimbola Awogboro who scheduled the sentence also ordered that he will be held in the EFCC Custody until then.

Prior to this, Bob Risky was arrested after he was invited by the EFCC to explain a reported viral video of him abusing money by spraying new Naira notes at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s movie titled, ‘Ajakaju’, which was held at FilmOne Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos, on March 24, 2024.

His detention also attracted a public statement released recently by the EFCC explaining everything about the detention so far.

The statement reads:

“The attention of the EFCC has been drawn to some reckless commentaries made by (Odinkalu) on the arrest of Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) by the commission, describing it as evidence of idleness or an abuse of power.”

“The commission views such commentaries from Odinkalu as unbecoming of a former head of a major government agency.”

“Okuneye was arrested and arraigned by the Commission on the basis of clear cases of abuse of the Naira to which he has pleaded guilty.”

“Odinkalu has a right to free speech as a Nigerian but such a right should be exercised with decorum and responsibility.  The commission would not hesitate to take appropriate legal actions against such uncouth commentaries against its lawful mandate by anyone.”

“Odinkalu is warned and advised to ventilate his rascally opinions more responsibly in future situations.”

Nigerians have been on the toll of reactions as they bid their utterances to the saga according to their understanding.

Bob Risky’s Lawyer, Ayo Olumofin

Meanwhile, in the other news, Bob Risky’s lawyer, Ayo Olumofin made a clear opinion promoting that he has no problem with the court adjourning his client’s sentence but is keen on letting them digest that the Nigerian Crossdresser is a first-time offender.

About the adjournment, he detailed that the court had made its decision and there was nothing he could do about it.

In a video that has gone viral, he was spotted appealing to the court to consider that Bob Risky is a first-time offender.
