With some of its ambassadors earning a space on former American President Barack Obama’s summer 2022 playlist, Afrobeats, Nigeria’s biggest musical export, is making progress in the international music scene.

Obama’s current summer playlist includes songs by a wide range of artists, including Burna Boy’s “Last Last,” Tems’ “Vibe Out,” Pheelz’s “Finesse,” Beyonce’s “Break My Soul,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Die Hard.”

Rema’s Iron Man, Wizkid & Tems’ “Essence,” Burna’s “Anybody,” and other songs that have openly supported Afrobeats have been among the former President’s summer and year-end picks in recent years.

Obama stated in a tweet on Tuesday that the playlist served as an illustration of how music can genuinely unite people.

“Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies—it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together. Here’s what I’ve been listening to this summer. What songs would you add?” Obama tweeted.
