To ensure the safety of all students in the State, the Nasarawa government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools.

This comes in response to security concerns across the country, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The government already has information indicating potential security concerns in towns inside the State that border the FCT, like Gitata and Umaisha.

At a meeting of the extended state executive council held at the Government House in Lafia, the decision to order the closure of schools throughout the State was one of the resolutions reached.

Following the council meeting, the commissioner for education, Hajiya Fatu Jimaita Sabo, briefed the media and stated that the state government had made the decision to immediately close all public and private schools after carefully considering the overall situation in the nation and the security risks in the FCT.
