The president of Napoli has vowed to withhold from signing any African players unless they agree to avoid participating in the AFCON.

A remarkable statement made by Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is that he will not sign any African players unless they agree not to partake in the African Cup of Nations.

The 73-year-old claims to ‘love’ the African players for Napoli but regrets having to pay them so much for their prolonged absences.

De Laurentiis remarked, “I told them, don’t talk to me about Africans anymore!” during a live-streamed event.

I adore them, but between the Africa Cup of Nations and the South American World Cup qualifying matches, these players will not be available unless they sign a document stating they won’t participate in those matches.
