Super Eagles to face Portugal in Lisbon.
A formal agreement between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Federaço Portuguesa de Futebol has been reached, allowing the Super Eagles and A Seleço to play each other in a high-profile senior team-friendly on November 17 at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have won the Africa Cup of Nations three times (as well as the gold, silver, and bronze medals in men’s football at the Olympics), whereas Portugal won its first continental championship (Euro Championship) in France in 2016.
The encounter against Portugal will mark the first senior men’s level meeting between the two nations, however the Super Falcons and the Senior Women Team of Portugal played to an exciting 3-3 tie at the USWNT Summer Series in Houston, Texas, USA, last summer.
The game will be played in the 50,000-seat Estádio José Alvalade, a natural grass venue. Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, will captain Portugal, while Victor Osimhen, a forward based in Italy, will captain the Super Eagles.
