Tobi Amusan Wins First Race After Doping Probe

Tobi Amusan, the Nigerian three-world-records holder wins her first race at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, after a doping probe by the world’s Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). This took place on Tuesday amid the concentrated observation of an excited audience from around the globe.

The record-holder in the women 100m hurdles posted on her Facebook wall last Thursday to disclose the news that the hindrance in her way to participation in this now live game was removed on Friday, after it was found that she broke no rules, and therefore should not be kept on suspension.

The mandatory suspension was implemented by the world’s Athletics integrity Unit after deciding that the champion missed the yearly drug test all world athletes were obligated to undergo every twelve months. But this ban was lifted after all due process showed that the title holder was was clean and free to compete.

Among the things Tobi said in her Facebook profile was that she was a fan of ‘clean sport’, and declared she was excited to go out to the track at Hungary and defend her titles. This she has started out to do on a good leg by her most recent victory at Budapest, (pronounced BU-DA-PESHT) Hungary.

‘This morning I found out that the Independent Tribunal that heard my case has noted that I did not violate the whereabouts rules and as a result, I will not be sanctioned and none of my results will be precluded.’

After winning 10 gold medals, 1 bronze, and 2 silver ones, and coming first twice in the renowned Diamond League, the record holder who broke a world record last year by setting a world record of finishing a hundred metres hurdles in 12.12 seconds at the World Championships, has a lot to defend. As some say the ‘the world’s best never rests’.

As the track and field events continue, many are confident she would win yet again. The race continues today.
