This defeat was a surprising one for the Florida-based club which recently have started to appear in hundred-thousands of headlines around the world. They owed this nouvelle fame to the inclusion of one of the contemporary GOATs, Lionel Messi into their once obscure squad.

In recent years, the club had been struggling up the steep, tricky mountain on the chart board, making little progress at the time. After Messi’s transfer to the North American club, many wondered whether he would whip out a wand and perform wonders that would change the little club’s rankings. Magic he did, but by the use of his legs and the presence of his global standing. What was more encouraging in a team than to have a senior player, who was both a GOAT and an expert in the art of leading a winning team?

Problems that came with this imported fame and influence were however highlighted in the match that is our subject, where the opposing club were trying to build their morale by not being scared of Messi, and Inter Miami seemed to lose theirs with the absence of their Argentine wildcard.

Apart from the four goals Atlanta United scored was another goal, which was directly given to them by an Inter Miami player’s own goal. Nothing else could describe the match for Messi’s team than ‘messy’.

Many have argued that the mess occurred due to the absence of the GOAT from the match. A decision was made by the coach to rest the star, who had just returned from his errand for his country. Most sportspeople know the toll of long travels on the body, especially such travels as have serious contests in-between.

As things stand on the MLS board concerning the competition, Inter Miami is in the second place on the board, and has the potential of becoming first in no time with the return of their champion. Atlanta United are far behind in the sixth place.

We don’t care about Messi. We care about us. We want to be in the play-offs.

– Atlanta United

Now Atlanta United did not stop their special words in the field, they proceeded to mock Lionel Messi after the match, following his choice of a certain pizza they found weird.

Most of the games between Lionel Messi’s side and other clubs have clearly become about seeing Messi play. The greater number of spectators usually do not appear just to see Inter Miami players perform, and this has affected clubs like Atlanta United, who are likely to meet Messi in the field one of the days. They should hope not to care about what the result of such match would be.
