Nollywood veteran, Funke Akindele has recounted the struggles she encountered during the core of her career.

According to Funke Akindele, she was denied several movie roles at the core of her career because of her facial qualities.

She made this revelation during her recent podcast hosted by popular Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa where she outlined that she was haunted by the experience.

According to her utterances, as of the time of the trauma she was only considered to embrace minor roles as they chided and snubbed her for her facial qualities which they termed to be ugly.

She emphasised how the occurrence made her shed tears via her nerves but however, didn’t give up.

Her words:

“I remember people telling me, ‘You are not fine. You don’t have ass. You don’t have boobs. You will not be in this film. And, I remember crying. A lot of times I would cry, break down, get into the bathroom and cry.”
