Conor Benn eyes Devin Haney as Eubank Jr. stalls faceoff

Devin Haney’s father made his son’s desire to fight Conor Benn public, as Chris Eubank Jr. continues to waste Benn’s time.

Benn who failed to fight Eubank Jr. in the past after being found guilty of doping has been looking for this fight for long now.

But two things are in Benn’s path which must be bulldozed off before the much-discussed bout becomes reality.

The British Boxing Board of Control would not let Benn compete in the UK due to the doping incident, saying the matter has not been settled in the appropriate manner. All this while Benn’s promoter, Matchroom Sports’ Eddie Hearn, insists that Benn took all the necessary steps he should, and that the WBC has reinstated the boxer.

The second hurdle in the way, which is why Benn made the decision he recently made after seeing a message from Haney’s father, is that Eubank Jr. is allegedly trying to use Benn’s misfortune against him during negotiations.

Haney’s father had posted, ‘To be in the ring or their presence, the Benn family, they’re boxing royalty, bro, that would be an honour.’

Benn’s reply was,‘Eubank’s lost his pen again so if you fancy Feb 3 at spurs Devin Haney I’ll welcome you to the 147 division.’

Since Haney and Benn are in the same weight class, with Benn being the bigger fish, the fight will be remarkable.
