Angry Zheilei Zhang’s name for Filip Hrgovic

Zheilei Zhang is still angry at Filip Hrgovic after the IBF mandatory challenger handed him first professional defeat some years ago. The Chinaman gave Hrgovic a new name for his foul attacks which the referee allegedly ignored.

Zhang recently beat formerly-undefeated Joe Joyce twice-in-a-row and become a respectable figure at the very top of the heavyweight division.

However, he is still angry at what he saw as a one-sided judgement by the referee who presided over his bout with Hrgovic, saying he purposely gifted Hrgovic a win.

‘Big Bang’ argued that Hrgovic kept punching him at the back of the head.

‘When you look at Hrgovic’s résumé, he was gifted a win by the referee when he beat me to become the mandatory challenger, then he has had two pretty low-level fights to stay busy because he is scared to lose that position,’ Zhang said to Fight Hype.

‘He fought Demsey McKean from Australia over twelve rounds, and he kept hitting him on the back of the head.

‘Right now, I can call Hrgvoic the professional of hitting on the back of the head because every fight, every round, he is hitting his opponent on the back of the head.

‘Yes, he knocked Mark De Mori out, but he kept hitting him on the back of the head too, that is what he does.’

The new name Zhang has for Hrgovic is quite a bad one for anyone to have, but time will prove whether it was befitting.
