Why knocking down Tyson Fury isn’t special — Anthony Joshua

Former WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua viewed the knockdown of Tyson Fury as inconsequential while answering Francis Ngannou recently.

Ngannou nearly achieved an upset during his pro boxing debut last December when he knocked down Fury in the third round of their ten-round bout.

But Joshua saw that as no big fit, arguing that everyone had knocked down the Gypsy King.

The conversation was as follows:

Ngannou: Yeah, I have a doubt about that [whether Joshua would get up from same punch Tyson got]. Tyson showed that he is very resilient, I saw him come back from knockdown that you wouldn’t believe [against Deontay Wilder].

He is probably one of the most resilient people out there and this is not a disrespect to AJ, but I don’t believe that AJ would have taken what Tyson took.

Joshua: Who hasn’t knocked Tyson down? So many people have knocked Tyson down.

However, many still expect Ngannou’s knockdown ability to pose a big threat during the faceoff.
