Simone Biles scoffs former teammate after winning Olympic gold medal
Athlete Simone Biles took a moment to troll her former teammate, Mykayla Skinner, and other critics after winning the team gold medal for women’s gymnastics in Paris. She wrote, ‘Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions.
The troll appears directed at MyKayla Skinner, who reportedly made a statement that undermines the team’s makeup during the game run-up.
Skinner’s controversial statement that sparked the reaction read thus: “Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t, like, what it used to be. A lot of girls don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic.”
After triumphing in the Olympic competition, Biles and her teammate took to Instagram to respond to Skinner. Biles wrote, ‘Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions. Chiles and Lee both endorsed Biles’ post, with Lee adding, “Put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you,” and Chiles chiming in with, “And that’s on periodt!!”
Skinner later claimed they misinterpreted her statement. However, this didn’t change anything at that time, as Biles’ post had received over 2.5 million reactions on Instagram.
In a reconciliation gesture, Skinner posted an image of the American gymnasts with heart emojis to celebrate their victory.
Recall that at the 2020 Tokyo Games, Biles and Skinner competed alongside each other. Skinner won a silver medal in the vault, while Biles, who is currently the most decorated U.S. women’s gymnast, earned a silver in the team event and a bronze in the balance beam competition.
