‘Don’t spray money, unless you’ll be a landlord Kirikiri’ – Bobrisky
Lagos socialite and controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has become a social crusader against naira mutilation following her release from the Kirikiri prison after serving her terms behind the bar for the said crime of naira abuse.
Bobrisky granted a brief interview to Goldmyne Vides after his release and deemed it appropriate to forewarn others so they wouldn’t end up in prison like him before realizing it. He said, “Don’t spray money, unless you’ll be a landlord inside Kirikiri.” He stated that one doesn’t have to commit a heinous crime before getting there, adding that one’s negligence in adhering to such a seemingly unpopular law can easily send them to prison.
The activist seized the opportunity to thank those who checked on her while she was in prison. adding that she doesn’t really care about the rest.
Recall that Bobrisky was arrested on April 4, 2024. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officially confirmed the news through a statement on their Instagram page, citing that the 31-year-old socialite was apprehended following a report of publicly displaying and showering wads of freshly minted naira notes at the premiere of the film Beasts of Two Worlds on March 24, 2024.
The EFCC charged Okuneye with four counts related to the misuse of the Nigerian currency, and he duly pleaded guilty before Justice A.O. Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos. This led to his subsequent sentencing to six months imprisonment without an option of a fine.
