Ini Edo loses ‘Shanty town’ ownership legal tussle to Chi Chi Nworah

Nollywood actress Ini Edo and fellow actress Chinenye Nwaora, popularly known as Chichi Nworah got embroiled in a legal dispute over the ownership rights of the popular Netflix series “Shanty Town.” The legal battle, which began earlier this year, has drawn a significant end as Chichi emerged victoriously in the conquest.

Nworah and her production company, GCM Giant Creative Media Limited, secured a favourable ruling from the Nigerian Trademark Registry and the Nigerian Copyright Commission in the case against Ini Edo.

This development comes after a series of legal battles initiated by Ini Edo and Minnie Empire Productions Limited (MEP), who sought to assert their ownership of the trademarks and copyrights affiliated with the intellectual property known as ‘Shanty Town’. These battles have all turned in favour of Nworah.
