Abba Kyari: NDLEA presents $61,400 in cash in court as a suspected bribe.
The $61,400 cash that the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari reportedly presented as a bribe to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officials has been allowed into evidence by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The prosecution presented money and 24 packs of cocaine during yesterday’s hearings through its third witness, Peter Joshua, a Chief Superintendent of Narcotics and an Exhibit Officer affiliated with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the NDLEA. The court accepted the evidence.
The witness, who was led in testimony by Sunday Joseph, stated that the foreign currency was given to him on January 25 after he weighed and performed a preliminary test on wraps of cocaine that were seized from two convicted drug pushers who were connected to Abba Kyari, Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwane.
In the accusation, the NDLEA said that Kyari attempted to pay a senior officer a bribe of $61,400.00 at an Abuja restaurant to stop the testing of some of the cocaine that was taken from the two accused drug dealers.
