Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, a Nigerian artist, claims that his debut single smash, “African Queen,” is both a blessing and a curse.

In the fifth part of the ‘Journey of The Beats’ documentary, which debuted on Showmax last month, the 46-year-old hitmaker discussed the 2004 hit tune.

The focus of the documentary is on the development and history of the Afrobeats genre.

The artist claimed that he sees the song “African Queen” as a blessing because it is the one that launched him into the spotlight and brought him prizes, plaudits, and fame on a global scale.

He added that the song gained him the title of “King of R&B” in Nigeria and served as a model for how to perform a classic Afrobeats tune.

African Queen is a curse, the legendary singer continued, because its fame “acted as a yardstick to his future efforts.”

According to 2Baba, the success of the hit song would always eclipse that of his other projects.

The fifth episode also looked at significant occasions that influenced Afrobeats in the middle of the 2000s.

The musical travels of legends like Style Plus, P-Square, ID Cabasa, 9ice, Da-grin, and Olamide were among these events.
