ASUU: N560b more is required to compensate university Professors.

The Federal Government may require an additional N560 billion to satisfy university professors’ demands for higher yearly salaries.

In addition to paying academics’ wages, the government spends “N372 billion annually on university education alone.
According to discussions with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), a professor might make at least N2 million per month.

Tuesday’s meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the leaders of ASUU, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the National Association of Applied Academic Technologists (NAAT), and the National Association of Non-Academics of Educational Institutions Staff Union was an effort to establish a rapport (NASU)

After the meeting which was attended by members of the pertinent government ministries and agencies, Buhari gave the education minister, Adamu Adamu, instructions to call off the strike in two weeks.
