Davido Announces Inaugural Are We African Yet (A.W.A.Y) Festival.
Davido, a musician and producer, is starting his inaugural Are We African Yet? (A.W.A.Y) Festival. On November 18, 2022, the Afrobeats star and festival founder will be accompanied by performers Kizz Daniel, Pheelz, Lojay, and BNXN (FKA Buju) at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.
The A.W.A.Y Festival’s purpose is described as “to connect communities, inspire collaboration, and celebrate the richness and charm of African music and culture” in a press release promoting the event. A coalition between Africa and the rest of the globe can be built, according to the description of the event. A.W.A.Y wants to highlight our shared similarities in dance, attire, and culture via the force of music and offers a chance for everyone to feel empowered and proudly claim their history.
In an accompanying statement, Davido added, “We were frequently made to feel unworthy as Africans growing up. So many of us were embarrassed to identify our origins and, in some cases, even denied our ancestry. That is no longer the case. We wish to invite everyone to enjoy our culture, including our music, food, and art. We are proud Africans. The A.W.A.Y Festival is focused on it.
