Famous American rapper and record executive, William Leonard Roberts II widely known as Rick Ross in a recent interview, described Def Jam as an entertainment company that has lost its relevance and will soon run out of business.

Def Jam is a Universal Music Group owned record label based in the United States where Ross reportedly launched his career in 2006 and spent his early years as a solo artiste before breaking out and establishing his own record label, Maybach Music Group (MMG) in 2009 and thereafter signing other rappers and artistes such as Meek Mill, Wale, French Montana, and Omarion, among others.

In an interview with Roling Stone, to promote his upcoming joint album with Meek Mill, Rick Ross asserted that Def Jam is having issues as he was not sure if he could get involved with the label on a project any longer. He said this while particularly speaking on an anticipated Def Jam project Fight for NY game if one were ever to materialize and picking Maybach Music Group over the former.

He said, “I might have to do it. But Def Jam is damn near outta business, so it’ll have to be Maybach Music,” Ross quipped. “That was a cool-ass game, yo!”

Ross and Meek drop their joint album “Too good to be true” on November 10.

The project will be distributed through Maybach Music Group and Apple veteran Larry Jackson’s Gamma media company.

The dynamic duo stopped by complex “GOAT Talk” this week in advance of the project’s release. The conceit of the program is that guests name their picks for the all-time great in a variety of categories. But it was one topic in particular that caught fans’ fancy – where they seemingly hinted at a Drake feature on the album.

Meanwhile, both Ross and Meek were asked to reveal what they believe to be the greatest of all-time Drizzy feature. Both rappers who did not disappoint by alluding to a future collaboration, were quick to chant his praises, as together they recited, “Meek Milly and Rozay, we fucking with the boy heavily. Listen out for it on some of the new shit that’s coming out very soon, you hear?” Meek said, with Ross adding, “You better believe it.”

Then they answered the feature question at hand, and both had the same pick. “I’m gonna say right off the top, ‘Stay Schemin,” said Ross, referencing his 2012 track with Drizzy and French Montana.

“‘Stay Schemin’ too, because I was a part of that,” added Meek. “I just had got my Ghost that day to pull up on you [Rick Ross] and Drake. I didn’t really know Drake. I probably had met him once or twice.”
