Ike Ekweremadu, a former vice president of the Senate, will remain in custody until October 31, a UK court decided Wednesday.

He and his wife Beatrice are accused of plotting to violate the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 by trafficking a person for the purpose of harvesting their organs.

The pre-trial hearing was postponed by the London court until October 31. A temporary trial with a projected duration of three to four weeks will start by May 2, 2023, according to the judge, Richard Marks.

David Nwamini, a purported victim of human trafficking, claimed to be 15 years old and that the Ekweremadus had compelled him to donate a kidney.

He is not a minor, the Westminster Magistrate Court later decided.
