“I almost went bankrupt, I became addicted to drugs” Afrobeat Icon, Timaya recalls his struggles

Afrobeat Gem, Timaya has disclosed how he nearly went bankrupt and moulded into drug addiction.

During his recent interview, the ‘E dey Pain them’ crooner disclosed that despite the view of his prosperous status, he was once very sad and sought happiness.

He was so desperate until some friends introduced him to drug addiction which nearly drained him.

According to him, he got addicted to the extent that he could spend a whooping number of 1 million on drugs and substances. This, he revealed, nearly led him to bankruptcy.

Disclosing further his struggles, he confirmed that happiness can’t be bought with money.

His words:

“There was a day I walked into some friends , they were just happy , I asked them what they were taking , they gave me . I took it and became extremely happy . I was so happy . I started buying and taking . I could take like 3 times a day and spend like 1 million on it in a day . I got addicted to it . I lost money , I got kicked out of contracts and brands I represented . I almost became broke . Imagine paying for happiness , happiness is supposed to be natural but I was taking it 3 times a day”
