Lisandro Martinez, a defender from Argentina, has been acquired by Manchester United from Ajax in a transfer of up to 67 million euros (£57 million).

The 24-year-old player was signed by United boss Erik ten Hag for Ajax in 2019 and he was eager to work with him again.

He signs a five-year contract with the team, keeping him at Old Trafford through 2027, with an additional year option.

“It’s an honour to join this great football club,” Martinez said.“I’ve worked so hard to get to this moment and, now that I’m here, I’m going to push myself even further.”

Martinez played for both Newell’s Old Boys and Ajax . He joined Ajax for £6.3 million in 2019 from Argentine team Defensa y Justicia.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be a member of winning teams throughout my career, and I want to continue that at Manchester United, he stated. “I firmly believe that, under this manager and coaches, and along with my new team-mates, we can achieve it,” the player said. “There will be a lot of work to get to that moment.”
