May D: Davido, Wizkid didn’t bring Amapiano to Nigeria.

The Amapiano music genre was not invented by Davido or Wizkid, according to singer Akinmayokun Awodumila aka May D.

He claimed to have imported the distinctive and original sound, which has developed into Africa’s most popular sound and a fierce competitor to Afrobeats.

He claimed to have been one of those who “initiated the Naija South Africa partnership,” but he denounced others who wilfully chose to give others the credit.

I have accolades to back up my claim that I brought amapiano to Nigeria. We began the South African-Naija partnership! I hate to say this, but you guys always put me in the box,” May D tweeted.
