Mike Ejeagha’s Akuko N’egwu Album hits 95 on NG Sportify
Mike Ejeagha, fondly known as Gentleman Mike, a 20th-century Nigerian folklorist, songwriter, and musician, has had luck shine on him as a contemporary Nigerian comedian, Brain Jotter resuscitated one of his songs, which he sang several years ago, by featuring a portion from the track ‘Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche’ in his recent comedy skit.
The song is an inspirational folklore tune that narrates how ‘tortoise sold the Elephant’. In the tale, the cunning tortoise outsmarts the mighty elephant and sells him to the king, thereby becoming eligible to marry the kingdom princess.
The song’s catchy chorus, “Enyi Na Aga, Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo,” depicts how the Tortoise was rejoicing after successfully deceiving and selling the Elephant.
The song suddenly began to trend on all social media platforms as fans of Brain Jotter decided to recreate the funny skit in which two people dance to the song as though they were greeting one another while one chases the other subsequently.
A lot of celebrities suddenly jumped into the trending “challenge” thereby making it more popular, subsequently, attention began to beam on the owner of the song. A lot of people called out Brain Jotter and alleged that he was defrauding the old man by infringing on his copyright even when Brain Jotter promised to pay him a compensation of two million naira. Most people that understands how copyright works, had contrary opinion as they rather appreciates Brain Jotter for his kind gesture towards the man.
Today, the Album that housed the track ‘Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche’ (Akuko N’egwu) has reportedly debut as 95 on NG Sportify and has become the oldest album of all-time to appear on the chart.
Lately Mike Ejeagha has received several visitors coming to pay homage to him, that includes the Kcee, the famous Five star music icon, Brain Jotter the comedian, among others.
