Tobi Amusan has won a Gold medal in the Women’s 100m Hurdles at the World Athletics Championships and set new records
Tobi Amusan, a reigning track and field superstar from Africa, has broken the world record twice in the women’s 100-meter hurdle event, helping her team win the gold medal.
In the semifinals, she broke her own record by finishing the race in 12.062 seconds.
She established a World Record in a global competition, becoming the first Nigerian athlete to do it in history.
In the long jump, Ese Brume again took home a silver medal.
“I wanted to get out and go,” said Amusan after the race. “I did what I had to do.”
While that was incredible in and of itself, Amusan was not done there. In her final race, a few hours later, she broke the World Record.
