Tonto Dikeh and her bodyguard summon to court for alleged assault.
The Chief Magistrate’s Court, residing in Wuse Zone 6, has issued a summons to famous Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh and her bodyguard, Gbenga. They are to appear in court to answer allegations of assault and trespass.
The lawsuit, case number CR/359/2024, was filed by Elvis Abuyere, the Chief Executive of Skyewise Group Limited and a car dealer based in Abuja. In response to the lawsuit, the court issued an order requiring the two defendants to appear before the court on August 24, 2024, to address the charges brought against them.
According to reports, Tonto Dikeh met with Elvis Abuyere, the Abuja-based car dealer and inquired about a Mikano car. The dealer did not have the car in stock and suggested she visit the manufacturer’s office, as they had it available.
The car was said to be sold at the rate of N90 million. The actress proposed to make payments in instalments, which the manufacturers declined. Mr Abuyere said that the car dealer proposed that he purchase the car, and the actress could obtain it from him and make payments in instalments. Fortunately, due to the dealer’s connection with the manufacturers, the car was sold to him for N85 million instead of N90 million; he, in turn, gave Tonto the car to pay in instalments with a mutual agreement between the two parties.
Dikeh’s initial deposit for the purchase was her previously owned 2008/2009 Lexus, which had an appraised value of N37 million. Additionally, she made an extra payment of N3.5 million. Still, unfortunately, she was unable to clear the remaining balance by the end of April, which resulted in a breach of the agreement they made.
On May 1, Abuyere repossessed the vehicle from Dikeh after unsuccessful attempts to secure the outstanding balance. Dikeh subsequently remitted N20 million, N17 million, and N5 million, resulting in a remaining balance of N2.1 million.
On July 30th, the actress engaged the car company to service her vehicle, which was subsequently submitted for maintenance. Upon completing the repairs, the car company sought her outstanding N2.1 million balance. Subsequently, it was alleged that she forcibly entered the complainant’s premises in Maitama, Abuja, accompanied by her bodyguard and two other individuals, thus allegedly perpetrating “criminal trespass.”
Tonto Dikeh has been accused of assaulting the complainant and some staff members of his company. The four individuals disrupted business operations at the car company, damaged property, and threatened to use social media to harm the complainant’s business.
