Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has vehemently criticised those who intentionally give birth out of wedlock, highlighting its impact on the child and society at large. He described it as “madness and selfishness.”

The actor took to his Instagram handle to unapologetically condemn the trending phenomenon where men impregnate their girlfriends without marrying them, just because they are shying away from responsibilities and commitment, not regarding the hazardous impact it has on the child and society.

He stated that having a child without being married undermines family values and negatively impacts the child. He noted that most of the notorious criminals around the world were brought up by a single parent.

Uchemba explained that marriage is an institution ordained by God and any attempt to go contrary to God’s original intention concerning marriage bastardizes the whole intent.

He said “Guys, what is this madness that we are doing now? Especially some of the young men that I see now want us this stupidity? Because that is what it is. Why would you think it’s cool to intentionally impregnate your girlfriend just to have a kid just because you don’t want to be committed to a woman? Or because you don’t like the idea of marriage?”

“Majority of the problems around the world come from broken homes; either the father left or the mother isn’t there. There is a reason why God put the marriage institution in place and why he put family there. The purpose of a family is marriage and then procreation. You have no business getting anybody pregnant because you have selfish reasons for not wanting to be committed to one person. You’re selfish and it’s going to affect that child” he added.
