However, the Police is on the lookout for unscrupulous individuals causing mischief through deliberate acts of misinformation and raising false alarm, Val9ja News has learned.

This was as the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba who disclosed the development to journalists at the command’s headquarters also revealed that out of the 62 cases reported to the command, 51 suspects had been arrested and charged to court for misinformation and causing breach of peace in the FCT.

Garba said the 51 suspects wrongly accused others of causing their manhood to disappear; leading to mob actions taken against those accused.

Moreso, such false alarms have seemingly become a trend across the country which the authorities vehemently frown at. On social media, new videos emerge of new cases being recorded with mobs caught on camera all ready to take jungle justice.

In his statement, the CP called on residents of the territory to always cooperate with security operatives in a bid to ensure that the city was free of crimes.

Garba stated, “The first case of male organ disappearance was first recorded in Gwagwalada on 21/09/2023. It has spread all over FCT whereby as of today we had a total of 62 cases reported.

“51 suspects were charged to court for giving false information and inciting public disturbance. To this end, I want to reiterate my commitment and willingness to always work with you to defeat crime in all its forms in the Federal Capital Territory.”

Similarly in Delta State, the Police recently, reportedly arrested an 18-year-old boy whose name has been identified as Ebube Linus, for raising false alarm against an old woman who he claimed was responsible for his missing reproductive organ.

Linus had reportedly raised alarm while on a commercial tricycle in Asaba, the State capital, calling the attention of about a hundred touts in the area.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, on Wednesday, titled, ‘SAY NO TO JUNGLE JUSTICE’, he said the incident happened on Sunday, October 8, 2023, wherein after the suspect raised the false alarm, about 100 touts pounced on the woman and almost lynched her when Policemen arrived the scene and rescued her.

He added that the incident was recorded and it has now gone viral, vowing that the Police Command will go after all involved in the attack on the woman and made to face the full wrath of the law.

“On Sunday 8th October 2023 at DBS Road Asaba, this 18-year-old suspect Ebube Linus raised a false alarm that an old woman inside a tricycle touched him and his manhood (penis) disappeared. Over 100 misguided touts gathered and mobbed this woman, stripping her naked and beating her to a stupor to the point of almost killing her.

“The Command was contacted and the DPO GRA division Asaba led policemen to the scene, rescued the woman, and arrested the suspect who we later discovered that nothing was wrong with him, as his manhood is intact. He just lied against a poor woman, a mother, a daughter, and a wife. Now the video of her being beaten and stripped naked is all over the internet. Does this make any sense? Why embark on self-help? why jungle justice?

“We are hunting for everybody on that video and they will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law alongside the suspect,” DSP Edafe stated.

Recall that in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, a video had gone viral on social media platforms several weeks ago of five different boys whose manhood allegedly went missing after encountering a certain young man whose identity has not been confirmed by Val9ja News.

As seen in the video which became a ‘cliché’ on messaging app, Whatsapp, the suspect was immediately apprehended by an angry mob before the arrival of security operatives.

The Police officers however, arrested the suspect while conveying both the suspect and alleged victims to the Police station in Makurdi.
