Tinubu appoints two new ministers

President Bola Tinubu has made an addition to his cabinet following his approval of the nomination of two more candidates for ministerial appointments.

This brings the total number of ministers appointed by Tinubu in his administration to 47.

The new appointments were made known in a press release on Sunday by the, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

According to the statement, President Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim as Minister of Youth and Mr. Ayodele Olawande as Minister of State of the ministry.

Chief Ngelale also noted that the nomination of the two new ministerial nominees are subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

According to him, “President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim to serve as the Minister of Youth, pending her confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim is a young medical doctor and most recently served as the President of the Progressive Young Women Forum (PYWF). She has also served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Mr. Ayodele Olawande is a community development expert and youth leader in the governing All Progressives’ Congress (APC). He most recently served in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Innovation from 2019 to 2023.

“President Tinubu charges the above-mentioned nominees to ensure that they consistently reflect the dynamism, innovative zeal, and unyielding productivity that are synonymous with the young people of Nigeria as they discharge their duties.”

Recall that the Nigerian Senate had confirmed the appointment of 45 ministers whose names were submitted in three batches by President Tinubu for scrutiny. This was as the former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, alongside a former senator from Taraba, Sani Danladi, and a nominee from Delta State, Stella Okotete were screened by the Senate but were not confirmed.

Other ministerial nominees who were confirmed by the Senate and eventually sworn in included former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike as Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Festus Keyamo as head of the Aviation Ministry, while Dele Alake will man the Solid Minerals Development Ministry.

Other ministers are Wale Edun (Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy), Adegboyega Oyetola (Transportation), David Umahi (Works), Festus Keyamo (Aviation and Aerospace Development), and Betta Edu (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation).
