According to reports, one person was also killed during the attack.

Val9ja News learned that the abducted monarch whose name has been identified as Magaji Makau is the district head of Ruwan Rana community which was invaded by bandits in the early hours of Saturday.

A source who spoke to newsmen and identified himself as Mohammed Musa, said the bandits rode into the community on motorcycles around 3 a.m. and began shooting sporadically as residents all ran into hiding for fear of what could be the outcome of the attack.

According to Musa, the unknown gunmen, after shooting indiscriminately for a while, began to perambulate round the community and later went from house to house.

Their unsolicited visit to the various settlements led to the abduction of the district head alongside five other prominent persons explaining that one other person who refused to be abducted was killed.

Musa said, “We heard gunshots around 3 a.m. and everybody went into hiding because we knew that the bandits were there for abduction.

“They went from house to house and abducted five people including our district head, shot down one person, and later returned to the forest.

“I was not aware of those abducted until in the morning when I came out to hear that, the district head, Alhaji Makau was among the victims.”

Meanwhile, member of the state House of Assembly representing the area, Hon Hamisu Faru, said he was disgusted over the incident and assured that the victims would soon be rescued adding that rescue efforts are already underway by security operatives.

Hon Faru said, “The security agents are making efforts to rescue the district head and the other five persons.”

Banditry is a recurrent menace especially in the Northeastern part of Nigeria which the government at all levels have consistently battled with.

While little or no improvements have been noticed just yet, the unfortunate attacks on innocent citizens continue to experience a surge as citizens continue to live in fear.

Recall that just recently, no fewer than 50 people including a district head, women and children, were abducted while three others were reportedly killed in an attack by bandits in Bagega, a mining village also in Zamfara State.

Some residents who confirmed the authenticity of the incident had told newsmen that the gunmen who rode motorcycles, on Tuesday, 17 October 2023, stormed the village in the early hours, shot indiscriminately and set several houses ablaze.

The village head, Abubakar Uba, who also confirmed the attack while speaking to newsmen, said the gunmen kidnapped the district head before proceeding to kidnap dozens of others in the village.

“They stormed the village on dozens of motorcycles, and their first stop was the district head’s residence. A few of them took him away with three members of his household before they entered the town and unleashed more harm,” Uba had stated.
