Sadio Mane ‘doesn’t look happy’ playing for Bayern Munich
Sadio Mane does not look happy at Bayern Munich after the forward shows signs of frustration in Germany. The Senegalese hero swapped Merseyside for Munich this summer after winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup during a six-year stint with the Reds.
Mane was keen to push through his £38million move to Germany as he set his sights on challenging himself in the Bundesliga with Bayern. But after a bright start that saw him score three goals in the opening three games for his new club, Mane has now gone five matches without a goal in all competitions as he tries to adapt to the demands of playing in another country.
Now, Hamann, a former Bayern and Liverpool player has questioned whether the 30-year-old is happy in his new surroundings where boss Julian Nagelsmann is deploying him as a Centre forward.
‘He is not integrated,’ Hamann told GMX. ‘I saw him at Liverpool FC, where he played through the middle. ‘That is not his position. Now he’s taking that position at FC Bayern as well. He is at his best when he comes from the outside. He doesn’t look happy to me. Other players like Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, or, in defense, Lucas Hernandez, who is injured at the moment, are putting in outstanding performances.
“Nobody is talking about Mane at the moment. He seems isolated and hardly takes part in the game. FC Bayern has to get a grip on that.”
Bayern surprisingly sits third in the Bundesliga after six games of the new season, two points behind table-toppers Union Berlin, having drawn three and won three. Enjoy the BEST ODDS on Sports Betting and Lottery with ILOT BET.
In contrast, old club Liverpool has failed to adjust to their star forward’s departure as replacement Darwin Nunez is so far struggling to fill the goals void left by Mane.
Sadio Mane’s difficult run of form for Bayern Munich continued on Saturday as the German champions suffered a 1-0 defeat at Augsburg to drop to fourth in the Bundesliga.
Mane joined Bayern Munich in a £38 million agreement from Liverpool this summer. The Senegalese star pulled the curtain down on six trophy-laden seasons at Anfield after making it clear he wanted a new challenge.
The forward got off to a fast start with the Bundesliga giants, scoring four goals in his first four games. However, he has since gone six matches without another strike, including two blanks in the Champions League and Saturday’s defeat at Augsburg.
