Anthony Joshua’s promoter makes respectful prediction on Joshua versus Francis Ngannou

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn who promotes Anthony Joshua was either careful or respectful while predicting how the bout between Joshua and new boxer Francis Ngannou will end.

Why not? Francis Ngannou surprised most boxing fans last year’s October. While fighting WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury as a debutant, he nearly won!

All the predictions ahead of that match gave Ngannou little or no chance of being a trouble to the big Brit, but when Fury crashed to the floor in the third round of the bout, expectations changed. Many still think that though Fury went on to achieve a split-decision victory after the tenth and final round, that Ngannou was the real winner.

It did not come as a much of a surprise when Hearn said the following to Matchroom recently:

‘I do [believe that Anthony Joshua knocks out Francis Ngannou]. I believe that he is going to wear him down and chop him down and by the end of the eighth round this fight will be over and Anthony Joshua will be ready to fight for the undisputed world championship.’

The surprising thing about Joshua’s promoter’s conclusion is that Joshua fights differently from Fury. Many expect Joshua’s good IQ and footwork, accompanied by his preference for heavy punches, to see Ngannou on the floor in as early as five rounds.

Ngannou has already announced that Joshua and Hearn will be surprised on March 8, the day of their bout.
