Bombshell: Francis Ngannou calls Tyson Fury a cheat, ahead of highly-awaited match

Francis Ngannou accused Tyson Fury of cheating in several of his recent fights, claiming he heard more than two of Fury’s past opponents complain about it. UFC former champion Ngannou is debuting as a professional boxer on 28 October at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. And his opponent would be Tyson Fury himself.

While talking on The JRE MMA Show, Ngannou dropped the bombshell – ‘Tyson’s gloves. He’s very tricky with his glove. I think he’s cheating. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about his gloves, that his gloves have no protection.’

But that was not the first time the heavyweight champion has been accused of cheating. Following his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, the former-WBC heavyweight champion spoke up to make the same assertion.

‘I saw in the first fight when Ricky Hatton was pulling down your gloves to put your fist in the improper position,’ Wider had stated in a social media video. ‘You tried the same method the second time but this time you scratched flesh out of my ears which caused them to bleed.’

Since every boxer knew how gloves behave with time and the results of each long-used kind on the body, Wider had tried to explain his case in a way others understand.

‘It’s impossible for a brand new 10oz glove to bend, to keep a smushed-in form or to have loose space,’ Wilder had affirmed. ‘I highly believe you had something hard in your glove, something the size and the shape of an egg-weight. It’s the reason why the side of my face swelled up in an egg-weight form. And it left a dent in my face as well.’

Wilder started complaining of this after their second fight. He had won Fury in the first one, but went ahead to lose the next two. Francis Ngannou mentioned his name as the first person who told him about Fury’s character of cheating. But Wilder came under fire in those days in 2022, when analysts asked him why he had not reported the gloves to officials in those days for double check. His reply was furious.

‘You got analysts that say ‘If he did have something in his glove why did you not go to the authorities?’ Wilder said. ‘I wish I was in front of them and I would grab their collar and put them close to my face so we can be eye to eye, face to face, so much that my breath touch their face.

‘I would tell them, ‘why the f— would I go to the authorities when I have an opportunity to release my own energy and put my hands up on on him in the possibility of trying to kill him and get paid millions of dollars doing it.’ Why would I go to the authorities?

‘Ok [I] go to the authorities and they lock him up, then what’s next? That’s it. A good writeup. OK, we proved our case. Nobody getting fed. What justice has that done? That don’t make no sense.’

Here is what Ngannou said which the officials should try to do, if they want an equal game.

‘Even when he [Fury] fought Deontay Wilder, he complained about that,’ admitted Ngannou. ‘Derek Chisora complained about that, and that’s what we’re talking about with the team, the U.K. commission and the gloves. We’re going to get there, and we need every glove to get checked. You don’t tell me about this, commission.

‘All the gloves get to be checked. If you want us to fight bareknuckle, let’s go bareknuckle, but don’t give me 10-ounce gloves, and he wears eight or six-ounce gloves because he has no protection.’

In the past, Fury injected a numbing agent into his ‘hurtful’ elbows before fighting with Wilder. Fans lashed out at Fury when this was revealed, calling it cheating. But his father John Fury came to his son’s rescue with sympathy-garnering claims.

‘He [Tyson Fury] said, “I couldn’t box, I couldn’t work my jab,”‘ said John Fury ‘”If I missed with the jab the pain, it would’ve put me in limp mode. I wouldn’t be able to fight. The pain when I was throwing the jab, it was unbearable. So I was fighting two people in there. I was fighting the pain in my own body and him.”

‘So he said, “The only thing I can do is get close and make a war of it. He said, “I know I wanted to win more than him. And that was it,” he said, “Seek and destroy or be destroyed. That was me motto,” he said. “He either gets me or I get him.”

‘He said, “It all went out of the window in the fifth round when I got the knockdown.” He said, “I looked up and thought, ‘Here we are again. Dog fight mode. This is where I gotta go. Trench warfare.’ And he was in there. And he was prepared to do that for as long as it took. And thank God that he was the winner.'”‘

Analysts say there is a chance Francis Ngannou would win, but a very thin one.
