Eddie Hearn says Conor Benn’s possible opponents now four

Matchroom Sports’ Eddie Hearn said that the list of Conor Benn’s likely opponents are presently down to four, among other things.

Benn is still talking to the British Boxing Board of Control after two doping tests came back with bad results.

Since then, the young pugilist could neither fight in the UK nor enjoy the peace that came from knowing that one could fight anywhere.

Now his promoter Eddie Hearn has given an update concerning how the fighter’s discussion with the BBBofC is going, while adding that all Benn would likely compete against in the ring were down to four.

Hearn made the following statement while revealing what was been done about Benn’s next bout:

‘From about 20 fighters that have called him out we have really targeted, I think we’re down to four.’

However, the promoter seemed unwilling to share the names of the four likely opponents, giving only clues.

‘At some point in the next week to two weeks we’re waiting for the decision on the appeal and if he wins the appeal which we think he will then he will fight in the UK on pay-per-view.

‘I’m not going to tell you the list of four, one is a huge, huge name, one of the greatest of our generation, another is a massive stadium fight, another could be a fight for the welterweight title, and the other one is a former two-division world champion, big name, so Conor is going to be in a massive fight next.’

What Benn is passing through is one of the disadvantages of having banned substances in one’s system as sportsman.
