Ex-opponent rates Anthony Joshua above Tyson Fury

A former opponent of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua rated the two fighters in a recent statement.

Jason Gavern has been in the ring with the two heavyweights and gave his view of their punches while speaking to ATG Radio.

His assessment increases the doubts surrounding the future performance of one of the heavyweights, though the two Brits are seen nearing their retirements.

‘I would say Joshua [hits harder]. I think for how big he is, I think a big guy like him should not move as well as he does,’ said Gavern. ‘He moves so fast, especially on the inside. He through a hook on the inside with me and I didn’t know where it was coming from, it was crazy how fast he was punching. So yes, I think Joshua hit’s harder for sure.’

Anthony Joshua will get in the ring with Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin on December 23 for a pre-Christmas boxing bout. Wallin is notable for the broad gash he once left on Tyson Fury’s face after giving him a hard time in the ring.

Fans desire to see Joshua win the contest so as to make sure that nothing would hinder the speedy meetup of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua in the ring next year. The two are expected to finally strike gloves after years of fans’ apprehension about which of the two boxers is the best.

On the other hand, Chinese heavyweight Zheilei Zhang has given a second prediction concerning the coming fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. It is scheduled to be held on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.

The Chinaman’s opinion was based on Tyson Fury’s most recent fight.

‘With that performance last night, Fury will definitely have problems with Usyk let alone myself,’ said Zhang. ‘We need to see what happens with Tyson Fury because he said he trained hard and the camp went well, but the performance says otherwise.

‘I’ve started to lose my interest the unification as well based on the Fury performance, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, however, the money guys behind Tyson Fury probably think otherwise.’
