A British former heavyweight boxer regretted never fighting Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua in his career before giving up.

It took David Price a respectable amateur career and further fifteen victories to get near a bout with either Fury or Joshua.

Price who also won an Olympic medal in 2008 by boxing was a three-time national champion. After beating Audley Harrison and John McDermott among others in his days, Price was allegedly having big dreams before two losses to Tony Thompson ended discussions about a fight contract with Fury.

Later down the road, Price gave up on the basis of being unable to go any higher than he already had. The fighters he must get through and possibly other factors discouraged him from lengthening his days in pro boxing further.

Recently while speaking to DAZN through offers.bet, the Liverpudlian revealed how unhappy he was about never getting to fight Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, and mentioned why he gave up.

‘Those big career defining fights, even win, lose, or draw, I didn’t quite make it to them.

‘It’s one of those where I have to accept that I didn’t have what it took to get to that level without a little bit of luck along the way. Some people get that luck, some people don’t, and I didn’t get it.

‘It’s a shame really as well because I think they would’ve liked to have crossed paths with myself.’

One takeaway from Price’s statement is that he felt sorry for himself and decided to stop trying. What would have happened if he did the opposite will remain a mystery.
