Former YouTuber challenges professional boxer to a bout

Jake Paul, a former YouTuber whose history in boxing includes only bouts with fellow influencers, recently challenged a professional boxer to a match that will mark his first against a real boxer, but some think he chose an easy opponent.

The only match Jake Paul ever lost in his 8-fight influencer boxing was against Tyson Fury’s younger brother Tommy Fury, and his 10-round contest with Nate Diaz in the past was quite impressive.

Paul’s latest would-be opponent is not a big name, though he has won ten of his 11 career fights. He is none other than André August.

In an X post, Jake Paul disclosed the development to his fans.

He wrote, ‘Ask and I shall deliver. August has more KO’s than me, more wins than me, more experience than me, but I like to gamble. The path to world champ starts here. Just straight up boxing.’

Paul also announced how the match can be viewed by subscribers.

‘I’m a professional boxer and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life,’ he said.

‘So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it’s about more than business. Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters. I’m coming to prove my greatness on Friday, December 15th live on DAZN for the world to see.’

Some think Jake Paul chose an easy opponent, having decided to fight a man whose last bout was maybe four years ago.

But August implied the YouTube boxer was set to be surprised.

‘I don’t talk very much,’ began August. ‘I’m all about that action! Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team and the resources but he doesn’t have my hunger.

‘When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good.’

If that final statement was not funny, nothing might be. Andre August might be surprised, as Tyson Fury recently was.
