Daniel Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, gave another verdict on Dubois’ recent loss to Oleksander Usyk.
The famous promoter’s conclusion was disclosed again following Dubois’ KO victory over USA’s Jarrell Miller on December 23. All this came after Dubois’ body shot against Usyk was ruled a low blow by the referee, making opportunity for Usyk to beat Dubois later in the match.
Speaking to talkSPORT Breakfast, Warren made the following statements:
‘For me, [Dubois] could fight any of those guys in the top 10. Even AJ would be a good fight. I’d watch that all day long. I thought Daniel Dubois was brilliant.
‘Absolutely magnificent. He proved to all his doubters that he does have heart in a tough, tough fight against a guy who is very good with his gamesmanship, was a tough, tough competitor and made him fight all the way.
‘He needed a confidence booster.
‘That fight with Usyk, he gave Usyk his toughest fight. He hurt him to the body, and, for me, that was a legitimate punch, and the referee giving him more than four minutes to recover was ridiculous.
‘That fight is gone, and he got a lot of stick afterwards about his desire, and whether he really wants to be at the top level.
‘Well, he showed that he does because that was a tough fight. He had to dig deep. He had to grit his teeth, and he did all those things.’
Warren’s talk about getting Anthony Joshua to fight his client might be futile, since Joshua would likely be preparing to be a heavyweight champion for the third time.
The IBF heavyweight title is expected to be vacant in the wake of the undisputed world heavyweight championship bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksander Usyk. The mandatory challenger for the belt is Filip Hrgovic, and his best opponent would be Joshua.
If Anthony Joshua loses to Dubois, it would be a major hindrance to Joshua’s dream.See Dollar(USD) to Naira Black Market Exchange Rate Today!
