Deontay Wilder’s patience seems to have worn thin in the wake of futile attempts to get Anthony Joshua for an opponent in December. Now he has given a lengthy reason why he thought Joshua was afraid of him.

In an Instagram post he made last month, Deontay Wilder stated, ‘(It is) a fight everyone is looking forward to and hopefully it happens and I’m doing everything in my power to make it happen, and I’m referring to the Anthony Joshua fight.

‘Anthony, you’re getting it from the horse’s mouth himself: I’m here, I’m ready to go. I heard some things your promoter said that my last fight only lasted a short period of time and I haven’t fought in a year and he doesn’t know if I want to fight or not.

‘But I’m letting you know I’m ready to fight – let’s make this the best time of our lives. This would be a major disaster if we were never able to get in the ring and put our stamp down in history.’

However, this gentle statement failed to do anything, so Wilder seemed to have gotten angry. Moreover, he is now saying loudly that Anthony Joshua is scared.

‘I know that he [Joshua] is afraid of me. I will forever say that because he hasn’t proved me differently,’ Wilder said recently. ‘I know what fear is, we are all from different parts of the slums, I have been in my fair share of fights and I can smell out fear, I know what it is.

‘This man won’t even mention my name when people ask him about me in certain interviews and stuff like that. He avoids me and the conversation about fighting Deontay Wilder, that is proof, it’s nothing that I am making up, we have seen it many times.’

Eddie Hearn’s claim that Wilder’s side was the reason the bout had not materialised was then refuted by Deontay Wilder.

‘It is crazy how this thing has been prolonged, it’s been so long and they [AJ and Hearn] always try to deflect it like it was us [preventing the fight],’ said Wilder. ‘Now, people are finally realising and seeing that it was never me, it was their side all along.’

Wilder announced he would go to England to meet ‘Joshua bro’ for a face to face chat.

‘I just don’t know what’s up with Joshua bro,’ he said. ‘Maybe I’m gonna have to go to England and sit down with him on some real man s***. I don’t want him to feel like I have anything against him.’
