Vasyl Lomachenko versus George Kambosos: Jorge Linares predicts
Two southpaws in the persons of Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos of boxing’s lightweight division are to fight on May 12 at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. Lomachenko’s past opponent Jorge Linares predicted how the bout would end.
Lomachenko is Ukrainian while Kambosos holds both Greek and Australian citizenships.
Speaking to ProBox TV recently, Linares predicted that his former opponent Lomachenko will emerge the winner at Australia.
‘I think Lomachenko wins that fight. I have seen Kambosos a lot of times and he always looks great in the gym, in training.
‘He’s a world champion in the gym, but in the ring he is different. He just doesn’t do the same things that he does in the gym.
‘He pushes all his focus into his training camp, his mentality, everything is in the gym.
‘He loses everything, always in the gym. So, that’s why, for me, I’m always with Lomachenko.’
Down the road during Linares’ conversation with ProBox TV, he was asked whether he thought Kambosos’ citizenship would help determine the winner that day.
Linares promptly replied as follows:
‘I don’t think so. I just don’t see it. I think Lomachenko will come back in a good way, he showed that to everybody in the last fight.
‘You saw how good he looked in that fight, so I think for me Lomachenko wins by decision. Maybe he wins by KO, but I don’t know.’
Both opponents’ last outings were actually underwhelming, since both failed to get unquestionable victories during the course of those matches.
